As for social network, neat idea - try www.ning.com to create your own social network (free!, really!) around any topic you want. Throw in a few bucks each month for your own domain and your own Adsense ads, and you could start generating some money from the ads and services. Take it a step further and see if you can become a broker of services around the social network theme.

Using ballroom dancing idea: studios, instructors, etc - charge them to run ads on your network, or make a commission off each student who signs up for their services.

You have a lot of great answers here, I just wanted to throw it one more. A lot of insurance companies look for at-home brokers that want to run their own business.
