Over the years, I have realized that effective marketing is an art. The right words and phrases can make you a great deal of money; as well as, the wrong words and phrases can put you in the poor house. I believe that a great marketing campaign can be a great mind controlling tool.

Do you think an effective marketing campaign can be a great mind controlling tool?

Reginald:

If you consider that a great marketing campaign will focus on your prime target market, delivering an attention-getting, interest-inducing, desire-targeting, call-to-action, then, I agree that you can manage your target market's actions.

However, I seen what would appear to be great marketing campaigns fail because they focused on the wrong target market. The copy was great, but the message in the end was off because it didn't meet the specific needs of that market.

I hope this helps.

Hi Reginald, like Mr SOLO, I too agree that marketing is a great tool, I have to, it is my business.
I also agree it is a little more complex than is generally thought, in fact many people seem to think MARKETING begins and ends with selling.

I guess what SOLO GUIDE is saying is it is the Strategic Marketing Plan that is important, that defines the who, where and why of your campaign. Great copy is, as stated, useless if aimed the wrong way.
A bit like having a great weapon on the battle field but firing it at anyone but the enemy, not a good strategy.

But a mind controlling tool?
I am not so sure I agree.
Perhaps SOME ads can have this effect, but again, today, the customer is a lot more savvy, sophisticated and generally can see through cheap attempts to hoodwink them.
I believe it also depends [again] on your target and product, certainly, there are times when an emotive campaign is more effective than a factual or humourous one.
Horses for courses.

In fact, many marketing campaigns we have been involved with actually try to encourage the target to think, to analyse and make their own decision.
It is up to the marketer to present a strong, convincing logical case that can stand up to scrutiny rather than try to manipulate the buyer by mind control.
Of course, again I am using MARKETING in its proper sense, I partly agree that many sales campaigns do try to influence the target by mind control, but i question to what degree of accuracy or success.
Then of course there is the question of ethnics, which [thankfully] we don't have too much trouble with here in China!

But a good question, thanks, it got me thinking.

However, on the topic of Marketing how about going to your Member Page and putting up some info, a few passages about you and your business?
It would be nice to see who we are talking to.
